HALAL
Halal refers to food, drinks, and other products that are permissible under Islamic law. Halal is a significant concern for many Muslims. The government of Malaysia has set up the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM) which is responsible for certifying halal products and services in the country.
Halal certification is not just limited to food and drinks. It also includes a range of other products and services, such as cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and even financial services. For a product or service to be certified as halal, it must meet certain requirements. For example, not containing any haram (forbidden) ingredients or being processed in a facility that also handles non-halal products.
Halal certification provides assurance to consumers that the products they are purchasing are halal and comply with Islamic dietary laws. Many businesses in Malaysia or other countries seek for halal certification to tap into the growing market of Muslim consumers who prioritize halal products.
Overall, halal in Malaysia is a crucial aspect of the country’s culture and economy. It plays an essential role in ensuring that Muslims in Malaysia have access to halal products and services.
